Black Bullet: Anime Show Review

Black BulletBy NickMaker

Okay so last month I finished watching a good show called Black Bullet and I think it did a decent job, however it has its flaws.

Let me start with the good and later the bad, the good is the plot and the story is about Japan being invaded by Gastrea, a creature that if someone gets bit they turn into one. The people of Japan almost got extinct and the only city to survive is Tokyo. How did they survive? By using the walls they created call the Monolithic that is made by varanium a fictional material that the Gastrea hates to get close. Hm, this all sounds a very similar plot to… oh yeah Attack on Titan! Yes, the plot is similar but has some twist into this. Like the Cursed Children as the people called them has super abnormal powers that they had when they were in their mother’s womb when some of the Gastrea virus somehow got into their genes of the fetus of the children. Oh, and it only effects females, and most of the story plot you see are little girls about ten years or younger, not a single adult or teen super power being- just little girls. Like for some reason that night before the attack they had a big orgy and got all the women pregnant and bore lots of females on the same day after the attack!

Sorry I digress, the main protagonist is a young man named Rentaro, a Civil security Promoter worked in the Tendo Civil Security Corporation responsible for keeping out of Gastrea out of Tokyo and he has his initiator name Enju. She’s a cursed child who she always seems to ask him to marry her, even though she’s ten and he’s in his early 20s. Japan has different cultures so stick with it please. They will meet up villains along the way like the masked man Kagetane who for some reason is interested in Rentaro’s skill, almost like he’s the father of him! Bum Bum Buuuum! Nah, but he has his crazy daughter who loves to kill people especially Enju the most! There are some good plot twists at the end but I won’t spoil for you, so that wraps up the good parts, now the bad!

The Bad side: It has some major plot gaps that you think you’re crazy to say to yourself, something is missing? And it is! One day they fought some villain then the next they move on with their lives with no explanation. Like the worst offender is the part where some guy from the head of the president’s bodyguard somehow have a big grudge against Rentaro and it never seems to explain what is his beef! He does stupid things that a normal bodyguard wouldn’t do and decide to endanger the citizens of Tokyo Area that he was supposed to protect only to want to fight Rentaro on the worse possible situation ever, including his other bodyguards join him! What the hell! Why are they in it!? It seems that writers rush on the production of making the episodes and didn’t focus more on the Manga that I heard was way better in explaining the details.

That’s pretty much it and it was only the first season and sadly it probably won’t get a second season maybe. If they do they better at least put more details on some of the important plots next time. I give this show a 3/5 stars a decent show for its slightly different plot, good enemies, characters, sad moments but some funny moments too, you should still check it out, it’s still worth it on CrunchyRoll. The only note to that is that is English subbed so there is no English dubbed.

Summer is along the way so here is a good tip for you Steamers a good BulletHell game Jigoku Kisetsuka, a free game and a hard one at that! Not much plot going on but they have some cute characters. You must have some good reflex for a BulletHell game because again is really hard avoiding lasers even on easy settings. I recommend using a controller for tight smooth movements, keyboards you can try but only if you’re really good at maneuvering it.
