Online education is helping millions of people across the globe advance their careers while also enabling them to carry on with daily work and personal responsibilities. But with the myriad of accessible courses and schools providing them, it can be daunting to decide which best suits you. Here are five popular degree programs.
Graphic Designer
Busy professionals who have a knack for creating informative and engaging visual materials can pursue an online degree in graphic design. The coursework will introduce various software programs and tools, as well as teach you skills in different print mediums and electronic media devices. Currently, there is a huge demand for graphic designers as more and more companies need them to create fun promotional displays, attractive logos, and professional-looking sales brochures.
Medical Assistant
If you find personal satisfaction in helping other people live a better life, a degree in medical assisting may be the right fit for you. Medical assistants are trained to manage both administrative and clinical duties. They work with other healthcare members including nurses and physicians to provide direct patient care. Most medical assistant programs are a two-part curriculum, mixing classroom-based lessons with hands-on field experience.
Radiology Technician
Another area of healthcare that is projected to grow at a faster pace than other professions is radiology. An entry-level radiology technician only requires two years of higher education but allows the individual to specialize later on with such degrees as an online bachelor in radiation science technology, to give them a competitive advantage. Radiology technicians are trained to prepare patients for diagnostic exams, carry out physician’s orders, take medical histories, and operate radiographic equipment, such as an x-ray machine.
Accountant
Regardless of the size or industry, a business needs a good accountant to manage employee payrolls and keep accurate records. Accountants also cater to the needs of both commercial and residential clients in terms of all applicable taxes being filed and paid for in a timely and accurate manner.
Engineer
Due to the hands-on nature of an engineering curriculum, many people think it is impossible to secure an engineering degree through the Internet. However, it is entirely possible to get an online engineering degree from various institutions. Many of these are Ivy League schools and highly renowned institutions. Students can choose between an associate, bachelor, or master’s degree.
Before enrolling in any advanced degree, make sure you have the time and money to commit to the coursework. In addition, give your current workplace a head’s up about upcoming changes in your schedule.
