The 2015 World Series

As the 2015 MLB Playoffs came to a start not many people thought that the Kansa City Royals and the New York Mets would be the two teams meeting in the World Series.

When the 2015 MLB Playoffs started, most people were really hoping that the prediction of the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series in Back to the Future 2 would come true.

This year’s World Series is one to remember no matter who you are – with the Royals returning to the World Series after losing it to the San Francisco Giants last year. And the Mets making their first appearance in the World Series since 2000, beating the Chicago Cubs in the National League Championship.

An interesting fact about this World Series is that neither team was established back in 1903 when the first World Series was played and that has never happened in the history of baseball.

The Royals beat the Mets in five games out of best-of-seven series.

Game one wasn’t decided until the 14th inning. The Royals won this game 5-4 to take a Series lead 1-0. The Royals won game to 7-1. This time taking care of business and getting the job done by holding the Mets to a single run that they scored in the 4th inning. This win made the series 2-0.

Game three the Mets came out firing on all cylinders. The Mets beat the Royals 9-3. By having two runs in the first and third innings, a run in the fourth inning, and an amazing four runs in the sixth inning. This made the series 2-1.

Game four the Royals found their composure and beat the Mets 5-3. The Royals came out big in the eighth inning with three runs to win, making the series 3-1.

Game five the Mets seemed to be the team that wanted it more, leading the game 2-0 going into the seventh inning.

Then in the ninth inning the Mets walked the first batter and it went all downhill from there. Giving up two runs in the ninth tied up the game. The Mets were unable to score in the bottom of the ninth to win the game. Thus sending the game into extra innings.

Neither team had a breakthrough until the top of the 12th inning, when the Royals came out and scored five runs. Jarod Dyson stole second base. Then Christian Colon singles to let Dyson score. Alcides Escobar doubles to let Colon score. Lorenzo Cain doubles with the bases loaded to let Paulo Orlando, Escobar and Ben Zobrist score. To win the game 7-2 and the World Series 4-1.

This was an amazing series between two very good teams. In the end the Mets didn’t have enough, and the Royals really didn’t want to lose two World Series in a row.

Congrats to the Kansas City Royals on an amazing season and an amazing finish to it all. Good luck defending your title next year.
