Spread the Word: the Status of World Literacy in 2014

Do you know that 1 in 5 people in the world are illiterate, and 2 out of 3 of those illiterate are women? Do you know that two-thirds of U.S. fourth graders — and four fifths of those from low-income families — are not proficient readers, according to The Campaign for Grade-Level Reading? Providing literacy education to children and young adults, particularly women and minorities, is a business imperative in order to build a diversified and innovative workforce for the future.
